MissionIn 2023, we invited ACR-GNY members to share their perspectives on our organization and their ambitions for our future. We developed the following mission and vision statements to reflect this guidance: The Association for Conflict Resolution of Greater New York connects our diverse membership to advance and expand the field of conflict resolution.
VisionA more peaceful, equitable, and collaborative world through the advancement and expansion of the practice and public understanding of conflict resolution. About ACRThe Association for Conflict Resolution (ACR) is the preeminent national nonprofit organization dedicated to enhancing the practice and public understanding of peaceful and effective conflict resolution. ACR represents and serves a diverse national and international audience that includes more than 7,000 mediators, arbitrators, facilitators, educators, and others involved in conflict resolution and collaborative decision-making. ACR’s members come from diverse backgrounds but share a common commitment to advancing the field of conflict resolution. In 2023, ACR-GNY was awarded the Award of Excellence by the Association for Conflict Resolution National for its leadership, organizational structure, social media, website providing a forum for communication and dialogue, networking opportunities, and conferences that enhance the practice and public understanding of conflict resolution. ACR was incorporated in January 2001 through a merger of the Academy of Family Mediators (AFM), the Conflict Resolution Education Network (CREnet), and the Society for Professionals in Dispute Resolution (SPIDR). The organization is based in Washington, D.C., and has nine Chapters nationwide. The Chapters enable members to meet personally in their geographical areas and attend programs and activities that support their professional development. Chapter members conduct locally focused programs and activities, share ideas, promote best practices, and make networking connections throughout their areas within and outside of the ADR field. |
