Conflict resolution professionals increasingly encounter parties influenced by online male supremacist communities (often termed the “manosphere”). This discussion will provide an overview of the key ideas in male supremacism and their connection to broader extremist movements in the United States. This conversation will also explore the wide range of ideological frameworks employed across these communities and examine how these concepts create pipeline effects, with young men shepherded from seemingly benign self-improvement and health interests toward more extreme male supremacist ideologies. Further, this discussion will explain common talking points and victim narratives that emerge from supremacist thinking patterns and how these may appear in conflict settings through coded language and dog whistles.
The discussion will be moderated by ACR-GNY President Nick Pozek.
